My name is Mahmoud Kozae, and I’m a software engineer based in Berlin, Germany 🇩🇪. Currently, I work at the Freie Universität Berlin, where I design and build software to optimize Arabic literary studies and empower researchers. My job is exciting because I get to work on diverse topics, including digital task and UX design, software and system architecture, natural language processing, image processing, MLOps and LLMOps.

Career Focus

Software Engineering is a about problem-solveing; I spend most of my time improving how I deliver software solutions, regardless of the domain. I have experience with both frontend and backend development. I’m proficient in various programming languages, with a particular fondness for Rust due to its performance and safety features. Additionally, I’ve designed cloud-native architectures, leveraging AWS to create scalable and efficient systems. I’m always on the lookout for new and better ways to solve problems. I’m excited to learn about new technologies and tools to enhance the quality of the software I deliver.

Future Outlook

In my opinion, computers have a lot of untapped potential, even with all the technological advancements we’ve seen. I believe we can push the boundaries further. My current job is enjoyable as it exposes me to various technologies and specialties, including cloud-native solutions and advanced data processing techniques. However, I aim to eventually specialize more narrowly, benefiting from the expertise and experience I’ve gained across diverse fields.

Projects

I’m proud of my accomplishments in the Kalila and Dimna Project, especially in creating software that enables scholars to navigate complex data and share their insights comprehensively. The software includes modules for image processing, natural language processing, content administration, and React UI components. In the remaining phase of this project, I plan to release some modules and components for open-source use. Stay tuned!
